Have had the noisy belt tensioner at the serpentine belt (alternator, water pump, ac compressor) location for some time now. Finally bought a new tensioner (Gates #39069) from amazon for $82.89. Went ahead and put a new belt on as well. I noticed that the new tensioner was showing that the new belt was already out of serviceable range according to the FSM. The inifniti part number for the belt is 11720-AR010, which I understand is made by Bando. This belt has an effective length of 76.3" or 1940mm. Make sure that when you go your local parts store that they don't sell you a belt that has a longer length than 76.3". The computer will tell them to get belt 4060772 or something close to that. What those numbers mean is 6 ribs and 77.2" of effective length. That's almost a full inch longer than spec. You need to make sure that you get a belt with numbers like 4060763 or 6PK1940. I previously had a Goodyear Gatorback Poly-V (4060763) on only because it was marketed as being quiet. I couldn't find any local retailers that carry it anymore so I chose the Gates (K060763) and didn't notice any difference in sound. The Dayco (5060763) is also a good replacement.

Just thought I'd pass the information along.

Awesome post. Thanks Grabbed the same tensioner from Amazon.

Got any tips about tensioner replacement? (I've done a belt change on it before and it's only about 3 months old. I plan to use the same belt again after the new tensioner goes on.)
