Y33 vs FY33 vs FGY33

I've been searching all over the place, but can't find any answers :facepalm: What i wanna know is what's the difference between the chassis codes y33, fy33, and fgy33 & what the fgy mean if there's any meaning to it. Just tryna understand my car a bit more :)

FY33 FGY33 were not available in the USA I think.

Naes, if you want true accuracy the Y33 is a general chassis code and "most commonly" refers to the Cedric /Gloria with the Vg20 but is also the platform general code for the Cima and Q45.

Fy33 is the 4.1 liter Cima . The FGNY33 Cima is the AWD. The FGY33 Cima VH41DE. The FHY33 Cima is the Turbo version with the VQ30DET.


In the US most people refer to the Q as a Y33 however, when speaking of the three at the same time and comparing them one could assume Y33=Cedric Gloria, Fy(g)33=Q45, FGY33=JDM Cima

It is a pretty safe bet in this forum since it is 99% USA participation that anything with a Y is USDM Q45 97-01. Most of the Aussies and the very occasional japanese folks clearly let them know what they are talking about. So here it is pretty safe you will see all of the above chassis codes from folks but they are almost always USDM Q45's.

the US Q45 was a VQ41 engine so not sure what yours is, where are you located?
