On the driver's interior door panel, there is a little slot above the window switches...I've test driven a few Touring Y33s and I am pretty sure they had a lamp in there. My base 1999 Y33 doesn't have a bulb in there...there is a bulb socket thing in there, but it looks funny, like the inside of the socket is covered in styrofoam and there is no way to connect the bulb and socket.

Does anyone know if the upper door panel courtesy lamp was only on the Touring? What bulb size does that lamp take? Can't seem to find this info anywhere...

I have a 1997 Q45 non-touring and I believe I do have that lamp. Can't double-check till Thursday night but let me know if you want me to check.

That'd be awesome, even better if you could let me know what the bulb size is...i guess the previous owner of my car just took the bulb out. Still, the socket the bulb would go in doesnt look right. Like it's a blank that isn't wired.

I'm pretty sure, like 95%, that I do have a light there. I have no idea how to gauge lamp size - you're asking me to take the whole bulb out? Does it pop out easy or does the entire door panel have to come off to get to it?

You dont have to take the entire door panel off...there is a little (like 1") plastic cover over the lamp housing that pops out real easy. Hopefully there is some marking on the bulb and you wouldnt have to take the bulb out at all?

I just checked it out and I do have a light there. I couldn't see a simple way of pulling it out so I can't provide you with a part number or anything, but it's a tiny dark bulb. Kinda like the head of an LED bulb.

Man, I figured I'd have to take the entire door panel off to replace it. Thanks for checking it out.

There is a bulb there for sure. For something like this I'd swing by the local dealer and pick up the part and pick the parts managers brain while you view the schematic of how it fits in there. My 97' touring does indeed have that little small light over the windows switchs. One of those nice little touches on the car that made me love it in the first place.
