Y33 Transmission Woes...Only Has Second Gear

Hello, new guy here. I own a G50 and it hasnt given me many issues other than the common ones...fan speed sensor was blown when I got it, fuel smell, etc. But my question lies with a Y33 that I am contemplating purchasing.

It is a 1998 Q45 with 170,000 miles. The owner states that the transmission only goes into 2nd gear while driving. It does not have Neutral, Reverse or Park according to him. I asked when this occurred and he said it worked fine, he parked it and then the next day it was messed up (how many times have I heard this story???)

He says it is a shift solenoid that went out...I kind of beg to differ, but maybe someone on here knows what it could be? I am thinking it just needs a new transmission altogether. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Nobody answered your question....take the car somewhere that has a diagnostic, it should throw off a code. I would plan a new transmission frankly if your having issues with it.

Also, if you have a good local transmission shop they could probably tell you but I would plan a transmission replacement.

Nobody answered but thats alright...I decided against purchasing the vehicle. For one a 19 year old kid was the owner, he trashed the car pretty much and wrecked it so the front end needed work. Not to mention salvage title...G50 still takes the cake in my book. 92 with 135k original miles that I bought for $900 from a second owner, which the first owner was their grandparent. Beats the other G50 I had before this one, which might I add cost me aabouttwice as much.
