Howdy all- quick question to see if any Y33 folks have any experience with the install or just the possible benefits of a transmission cooler in this model. I know they are a big recommendation on the prev gens but search didn't reveal any Y33 related articles. Thanks for any inputs!Doug

Minimal benefits on a manual transmission, you'll be better off running a synthetic based transmission/gear oil.

no Q45 had a FACTORY installed MT...

Anyway, the Y33 is just the same, you want to install a trans cooler, even sooner than on a later 94-96 G50.

Thanks Wes and 99Q. Scanned over (quickly) the linked post but not clear yet on how that pertained to the 97+ year models. Need to set some time aside to do further research on what a transmission cooler does, how it would help my model year, and how much $/time an install would run. Gonna price the dealer doing certain parts of the 90K service that I can't or don't wanna do and thought that would be a good time to look at having this done.

Do it when you get a complete mechanical exchange and pan drop with filter and gasket replacement. Install should not be more than .5 hr.

First, continue reading all of Q45tech's posts. Including the links.

Secondly, look in your FSM and see the little coke can heat eschanger that sits in the bottom tank of the radiator. Compare that to the later 1994-1996 G50 twin column/tank radiator heat exchanger, which while a great improvement, has been judged inadequate for anyone south of the arctic circle.

Cheapest modification one can do to ensure as new OEM performance and durability of the transmission besides regular maintenance.
