Y33 Timing Chain Issues???

Pimps and players,

I am wondering if the 1997-2001 were plauged by the timing chain rattle found in the early 90 Q45's? Were the timing chain guides updated for this model year with metal guides?

Reason I am asking is I have my eye on a 1999 Y33 that runs great, but has a very faint sound from the chain? I don't know if I am overreacting from past experiences with timing chain guides on previous Nissan vehicles.

your golden. all VH41 came with metal guides (even back in 1990, weird they would put metal on VH41 but plastic on VH45?)

So the sound I am hearing is normal chain sound? I am just wondering what is going on in there.

how do you know its fromthe chain and not a lifter (HLA)?
