Actually in Japan, all Cima upon which the FY33 USM Q45 is based are designated FY33 by Nissan. Y33 is used like slang as lesser versions of the chassis never had the VH41DE and were known in their down market trim as Cedric and Glorias and thus are properly designated as Y33 by Nissan. For the US FY33, the parts manual refers to the US version as the FGY33, as it was a unique version that never had the AWD or VQ30DET engine, among other JDM configurations.
The later Y34 2003-2004 M45 was never available in Japan with the VK45DE and its associated 5 speed transmission, nor with the F50 based dashboard.
Y31 and Y32 are earlier version of the Cedric/Gloria model line that never made it to the US.
