Coming back to my car yesterday from the store, I got in, and inserted the key in the ignition while trying to move my steering wheel down at the same time (even though it does it automatically, I had moved it up before I got out). Well, it telescoped out to the proper position, but it wouldn't move up or down. Now, it telescopes out as normal, manually and on key insert, but the up-down positioning control doesn't work, manually or automatically. It's never had any problem like this before, and I'm completely baffled. Insult to injury is that it happened yesterday right before I showed the car to someone who wanted to buy it. He canceled though, but isn't that how problems always come up? At the worst possible time? hahaI'd really appreciate any kind of response before I head over to the dealer....and we all know how they price things attached to the steering wheel(or for that matter, on the steering column, or near either of them, or that has more than two wires, or on something that could be mistaken for an airbag in low light, etc.)

I had this happen to my Q once, i think what it did is it would only move a little bit at a time. Certainly wouldnt hurt to try unplugging the battery for a while and see if that fixes it.... May work or may not but cant hurt to try!

Just about still on topic - I thought I would comment that I have just moved to WI with my 2000 AE Y33. Wonder how many of us are up here? I am in the Sheboygan area.

I arrived in November from MA complete with my 4 snow tires, 3 in the trunk and one on the rear seat. Didn't get around to fitting them until the first big storm a few weeks ago and only then because I got stuck in the parking lot at work. I now have them fitted and have 3 bags of Morton salt in the trunk.

rover, see, you moved from cold to cold....i moved from florida to cold, complete with 20" summer tires. that bad snow we had in the beginning of november introduced me to reality, and also my new company's policy on "i know ive only worked here a week, but i cant get my car out of the parking garage to go to work" excuses haha

Now you know why I yanked the teins out of my car and went back to stock.

You will enjoy summer around here. If you enjoy Music, wait until summerfest in Milwaukee. It's a huge party.

wow what a major difference in price.

Personally, I just leave my "auto steering positioning" to OFF. Set it to the position you want and leave it OFF so it does not move every time you start the car. It's a useless feature and one less thing to break !

Depends on your driving preferences, I guess.

I like to drive with the seat moved far forward, steering wheel lowered and extended - almost the exact oppposite of the settings that allow me to easily get in or out of the car. The positioner solves this problem perfectly.
