Y33 Starting Probelm

Occasionally when I first start the car, the starter makes the same type of noise that occurs if you in inadvertently try to start the car when it is already running.

This screeching noise is not accompanied by the engine turning over so I am guessing that the starter is not engaging the flywheel? Typically if I try to start it again it starts normally but sometimes it takes about 3 attempts.

So far this is occurring about every 20th start but I assume it will soon get worse if not attended to.

Has anyone experienced this with a Y33?

Yes, but it could be a failing solenoid or starter relay, or you may have a few damaged teeth on your flywheel.
