For some time I have had an irritating rubber like sweak when I brake to a stop which comes from the left rear of the car. Using a friends life and a pry bar we isolated it to the rear subframe bushing on the left front of the subframe. A squirt with silicone will eliminate the noise for a few miles and then it returns. All through the winter it was absent but now it is warmer it has returned with a vengeance.
From other members experience is this likely to more of a nuisance than a safety issue. For it to be a safety issue I would expect that the bushing would need to be badly destroyed and causing a metal to metal sound. I realize from searching old threads that I will need to replace the entire subframe to fix this and I am trying to decide whether this is urgent or something that can wait.
