From a stand still, switching from say, drive to reverse I hear a clunky/crunch sound. I assumed diff, but it actually sounds like it's coming from higher up like upper hats of the rear suspension. I have S14 Toe arms, Rucas and y33 anceltion coilovers to go in, so I'll take a look then, but is there any chance the diff has a chewed gear?

If so, what are my options for replacement differentials? I think I read the G50 diff will fit but has a different final drive? Anyone care to confirm what each FD is for both the Y33 and G50?

Thanks in advance. Car just got back on the road and it's time for some fixes!

Are you on stock suspension right now? My stock shocks made a noise when the car would load up from switching gears.

As far as rear diffs, the G50 is a 3.54 R200. But the Y33 is a 3.69 r230 and they both use difference axle shafts. With the Y33 being a r230 I would assume any gear that fits the Z32TT R230 would fit the Y33 differential.

You need to check out your rear shocks, if your still on the stockers and over 60k at this age they are shot and could be a very easy fix. Unfortunately you hae very little choice for replacement, either OEM or you have to special order some higher performance ones.

Look for fluid around the shocks in the back, mine were shot at 75k and replacement made a huge upgrade to the car.
