So then you are on your second or third set of shocks? If your shocks are good, then you'll be ok on them with the Tein's. If your shocks are old, you'll need new ones.
Not a problem. I'm learning a lot about the Y33 from it.

First off, Matt take the plunge. The car is an excellent car, a very good value and it is bullet proof in my experience. I bought a 97' in 2000 and it was a great buy, nothing has gone wrong. Way more car than a I30. Get a second set of rims and some of those nice snow tires (I live in the Bay Area, I just do not understand that living in the cold/snow thing) and swap them out in the winter. With traction control, you'll be good.

Faulk, have you found some good aftermarket shocks too out of JDM? What are you running. I'm on the originals at 79k and know they will need to go soon. You have a good person in LA to install?????

The more I learn about the Y33s here, the more I want one. There was a beautiful silver Anniversary Edition Q in the parking lot this morning, and I asked the girls I was with what they thought of it. The unanimous verdict was that it was "hot", and one wondered aloud how any college student could "afford a Rolls-Royce like that". That comment made me really want one. I definately think it's going to be a good choice for me. It will be especially gratifying too because I'm going to be paying for it myself with money I've saved from working summers just as I did with my P10 G20. As far as the Anniversary Edition is concerned, does it really add anything beyond upgraded trim and badges to the Q45t?

I have KYB New SR Specials (that's exactly what they say) paired with Tein S-Techs, also ordered from JPN. KYB is the OE supplier so fit is perfect and since they engineered the original shocks, they engineered these to work with a lowered Q. The ride is firm, sporty, and very comfy. Excellent on fwy road trips, and just fine around town too. It seems that there are more and more people contacting me about the springs, and I think I'm going to look into bringing a few sets of the shocks over as there seems to be enough interest to justify it. I have a great installer here in L.A.

Cisco, the size of the Y33 Q's is identical, there are absolutely no body changes through it's 4 year US run. Only lights, wheels, and a few convienence items changed. To answer your other thread question about the rear window shade, I would think it will cost a grip to install the 99-01 shade as it's motorized and our rear window tray is not cut for it. I'd just look at what's available aftermarket, I know it won't be power, but that's my 2 cent's. Now I'd LOVE to get the rear seat back from the 99-01 since it has movable head-rests .

Mine is a 99 and as Falk stated, no size change but color does play tricks with your eyes. I think lighter colors make cars look larger than those with darker colors.

The rear head rests weren't movable until '99? My 1995 G20t has movable rear headrests...

The sunshade is a really cool feature...combined with the other upgrades I think that I'm probably going to be looking 99-01.

Yeah, the seats look identical, at first I tried to pull my headreasts and realized they don't move. Only on 97-98. Even though I'm 6'2", they are at a good height for me, I just want the ones that move.

It's not to bad but i would want to own it around $15500 to be honest. It looks like it has been there for a while considering the snow in the picture.

Rethinking this, I would say you would be safe up to $16000 and if that one had nav maybe $16500 ish.

Probably shocks. Ask falk about that one. I have only had mine for about a month and a 1/2.

IMO, that's a GREAT price for a 2000 with low miles. My 1998 had 76k on it when I got it, although I did get mine from the original Infinit dealer that sold it to begin with, but I paid something like 16k. They were asking 16.5, but they replaced the headlights with brand new units, and I know that's about 1800 right there.

That Q is simply beautiful, black on black, low miles, and I bet you can get it for hight 16's.

edit: did a KBB.com search for my zip code - 90501 - and here's the price $20,195.

Im using Black book. (car dealers bible) I have always found KBB to be off the wall. If I could sell all my cars for even $1000 under KBB, I would be a filthy rich man.

lol!I still think it's a sweet deal though.

So for more "accuracy" did an autotrader search on 00-01 Q's w/ >75k and the prices range from 19.9 - 23900.

Yes it does, but price the cost of replacement shocks with Joe first. Be sitting down when you get the quote.

Too true. Which is one of the reasons I went with my 98 instead of a 99 T which was only 14,500.

However, if you don't mind loosing the dual mode, I bet you can still install the KYB's I have.

So for all four that would come to about $1400 + labor...how long does the job take?

Like Falk said, you could probably just go with the factory replacments that came out of a non T car to save some money if you don't mind living without the ride control.

Wouldn't that be the same as buying a non-T to start with effectively? Is the non-T suspension significantly softer than the T one? My experience with the I30 and I30t has been that the I30t suspension makes a noticeable handling difference...

Well, yeah your right. Start looking at the non T's.

The T is adjustable. I can push the button just before an off ramp and throw it into it preety hard with complete confidence. I can deffinatly tell but it it took some getting used to.

I found this non-t '98 with 75k...http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...ist=7

I don't like the rims. At all. But the car seems pretty clean.
