I know i might be posting this in the wrong section. I am new at this. I have a 2003 M45. I need to replace the lower control arms but the price of them are out of control. I was wondering if the Y33 lower controls arm will work on the Y34. The look like them might. One is steel and the other is aluminium. I see aftermarket kits for the Y33 but nothing for the Y34 and help would be great.

Welcome to the right section.

We don't have many Y34 experts but one thing I would suggest is, instead of eye balling it, check the part numbers (OEM) between the two. If they are only off by a letter or number, your bet is probably a good one. If they are drastically different, then I'd pass on the risk.

Have you tried looking at used parts Ebay and junkyards? The front suspension is similar to the Y33, but I'm not sure identical. BTW, the Y33 designation was also used for the Gloria and Leopard. You might want to look at F50 Q45, as their was quite a bit of parts interchanged between the two. The Y34 M45 really was a odd duck, it may look like a Cedric/Gloria on the outside, but it was mechanically closer to the F50 Q45.

I have tried some junk yards but the front bushings are torn are close to them. The part number between the part number are very different. The F50 Q45 arms look they would work but again the part numbers are different. I was able to find out that the Y33 have the same geometry as the Y34 even tho the arms are different. Also S14 lower control arms should work as per the suspension company that i talked too. But they also could be wrong. I will get one a f50 LCA then check it again the Y34. Thank you for the information much appreciated

Did you finally get this puzzle resolved on your lower arms?

I did not. I order Q45 LCA and they did not fit. I sent them back. I ordered a set from the dealership when they were having a sale.
