I am doing an oil change on my Q45 as the dealer record shows last one was done at 103,000 around 4K miles ago. Its overdue. I drained the oil and can see the oil filter. But I can't put enough pressure on the oil filter. My hands don't reach the area and also the I can't seem to put on my oil filter wrench..

Can someone point me on how to get to the oil filter? Should I take out the air box and give it a try? Please post your suggestions..

I already drained the oil and waiting to replace the filter..

Thanks in advance.

ive found its easiest to use a cap type oil filter wrench and use a 3/8in drive rachet.

I already have a cap type wrench. But I really can't reach it very well. Do you think taking off the air box will help? Or should I be able to take it out without taking the air box off..

Sorry for the dumb questions..

a classic trick if the filter is stuck on, hammer a long screwdriver through it and turn it like a t handle. this is assuming you are unable to get it loose with a socket and a oil filter wrench, if i am understanding your post correctly?

Ok, I am a freaking jack**s. I will admit that.

I could easily reach the filter with my hand once I look around a bit. I had to use the hammer trick and it came of just fine.

For future reference for other newbie Q owners: for Y33 oil filter - you don't need to take anything like the air box etc. off the car. Just make sure the engine is cool, take off the plastic engine guard from the bottom and your hand will be able to reach the filter. Use a cap wrench as Wes said. It works very well.

Thanks a lot guys for your help.. Appreciate it as always.

I wish I'd seen this sooner. It's WAY easier to take the air intake off, two 10 mm nuts and she's off, and it's right there at the top of the engine, designed to be removed from the top.
