Ok, I'm interested in purchasing a '99 Q45 (y33). Ive actually found one in my price range that is in my area. With that being said, the only drawback that I'm worried about is the gas mileage out of the V8. I drive quite a bit, and premium gas can add up fast.

What kind of gas mileage do you guys get? City, highway, your driving style all should be included. Thanks alot, I hope your responses are what I'm looking for.

I get an average of 300 miles for every 18 gallons of premium gasoline.

I am a traveling salesman. I drive 50k/year. The Q with its premium gas was probably not the best choice ( I spend about $20-25/day), but I'll be damned if I'd drive a different car now.

300 miles give or take leadfoot on every 19 gallon tank.

So far...

Lowest city mileage (short trips, cold weather) was a tad over 15.5 MPG.Highest city mileage (warm weather) was a tad over 18 MPG.

Lowest highway mileage (80 MPH) was 20.5 MPG.Highest highway mileage (65 MPH) was 24 MPG.

I'm not an aggressive driver (averaging less than a dozen hard stomps per tankful), so your mileage could be lower.

ETA: If you actually run the numbers, you might be surprised at how little difference a couple of MPGs makes in your annual vehicle expenses - compared to other items (insurance, repairs, maintenance, vehicle life expectancy, etc.), it's pretty insignificant.

This may not be what you want to hear, but if you're concerned at all with the MPG of a Q, then you shouldn't look at it.

If something as "inexpensive" as fuel is influencing your decision, you should look for a cheaper (purchase, maintain, repair, insure & fuel use) car.

i get roughly (cough) 260- 280 to a tank.. (17 gallons)

around 16-17mpg doing pretty much full city driving...

I did take a road trip, and got around 390 miles to a tank which is 23mpg..

Not bad

Im sure I can scrape a little more out with new O2 sensors, cleaning the TB, MAF, and running some cleaner through the intake manifold

but Im not too un-impressed..

I love the Q

I completely understand where youre coming from, but you might have misinterpreted my post. Gas mileage isnt the determining factor of the purchase, I was just curious what you guys see on a regular basis. Thanks for lookin' out though.

98 Q45 no mods w/107K mi. Owned 4 1/2 years in CAlifornia-

Average annual = 16mpg +/- .05mpg. No long trips to affect this #. Avg drive is 10 miles w/ 50% TIME on side streets, the other 50% on freeway. Considerations--leadfoot! (80+ on freeway)-wider tires (255)-time of year in CA (A/C or windows down)-gas formulation changes specific to CA

So- Mileage is not great if that's your biggie, but (like the other gents said) considering how much it ACTUALLY costs and considering WHAT you get to drive those miles in, I like it! Truthfully- I only drive 12K mi in a year, so grain of salt granted. Hope it helps!

Doug
