Hey it's about time for me to change my front pads and was wondering outside of oem pads what are you all using? I had some pads before that were pretty damn good but the shop I got them from closed down and can't remember for the life of me the name

I'm pretty sure you're right, but my friend has oem and I like the pads I had more. But a main difference might be his rotors. He has some brembo and I have drilled and slotted

I have drilled and plain Brembos. i recommend them, but be sure you are dealing with a reputable dealer.

They are made in Canada.

I get at least 70K out of front , 50K rear on factory pads...every single time ,no noise or other issues....why change what works as designed?

That is a great question! What is worth saving $10, $20 or even $30?

How about if for less money (or similar), you also get equally long life and less brake dust to clean up after? Seems like a worthwhile trade off it the pads last and the car stops to specs.

I hate cleaning my wheels. And on my last car, the rotors lasted longer using ceramics due to better heat dissipation. With factory pads they'd warp right off the bat. I hate a pulsing pedal.

Food for thought.

This statement presumes that brake dust is something that is bad.

Let's ask the question, "What is less expensive to replace, pads or rotors?"

Who else besides OEM do you think tests and formulates their pads for a particular car model?

Which is less expensive the insurance deductable + points for a cold wet collision or oem brake pads? Just as with soft fast wearing expensive Michelin tires vs hard long lasting cheap blocks of recycled rubber.

Well I've had ceramics pads on my car since '05 and magically I haven't had an "cold wet collision". Collisions can happen with oem pads or cheap o-t-c pads. I'm guessing that everyone who has "cold wet collisions" have brake pads other than oem huh?

And maxnix, I 2nd oldmako. I hated all of the brake dust using the oem pads I had at first. My ceramics pads work wonders for me in the summer, since that's when I put my wheels back on my car. Less brake dust and great for me. At the end of the day, it's to "each its own".

Well, the OEM are ceramic.

So you prefer more rapid rotor wear?
