Y33 guys need some help,

Got a code for the right bank O2 sensor upfront. It might have been a stray signal since it immediately lights up the MIL (first trip detection). I cleared it and it seems to be ok.

I took a look right and left O2 sensors in the front - they look like a nightmare. There doesn't seen to be much room to open them. I'm assumming you guys went in from the top - from the bottom its hardly visible.

How did you guys manage to open them - any help would be much appreciated.

haven't done either the fy33 or the hg50. fy33 looks marginally easier on the right side.

here's some general advice i have from experience doing it on the u13.

if you are committed to doing it, i am very serious about just whackiong the end off the old one and using a regular 6 pt. socket [no slit] to extract.

I have done it on different Q45 recently(O2 in my OldLady are still good). I've used air hammer adapter to brake loose both O2. It wasn't easy, but if you have enough patience you can do it. Make sure you use PB blaster on O2 1-2 hrs before you start.Cheers!

How did you do it? From the top or bottom? A brief write-up would be very helpful if you have some time to spare.

I used an alignment rack at my work to get good access from underneath. First you have to fight connectors (take your time) make sure you don't damage tabs. Then it is matter of getting good angle. Make sure you spray good with PB blaster when exhaust is hot to brake loose any rust (PB is next to miracle when fighting rusty nuts&bolts) When you get sensors loose, spray some more PB blaster to lubricate threads for easier extraction. I don't know what else to say. When installing O2 make sure you use antizeise. Do not get any on sensor fins or it will mulfunction! To do it is to see it in person!Cheers!

Thanks - I'll give it a shot over the weekend. At a qucik glance, the sensors appeared a little more accessable from the top - but I would need to look in more detail.

Thanks again

I replace both secondary O2's which are easy to get to from underneath.
