I have a musty smell when the I turn on the ac. Would changing the in cabin filter solve this problem? I sprayed the vents with Ozium, an air sanitzer, but did not help. I hava plenty of squash air freshner in my Q. I had the same problem with my Maxima.

Changing all air filters (and fuel filter) annually or 12K miles will be of great benefit. Once you look at them that often, you will see.

http://www.bgprod.com has a real sanitizer better than the consumer ones you are using. May be required if filter is supporting it's own colonies or seriously clogged.

Appliance parts - AC shops have a foam evaporator spray cleaner that you use ......pull fan speed transistor heat sink to gain some limited access to the evaporator core. Fill the system full of foam, let soak and wash out with a tiny water hose ...........don't exeed limit of evap drain hose or you'll have a flood.

The correct thing would be to pull the evaporator [disassemble air box] and clean. Usually cause by not turning compressor off 60 seconds before engine off............Remember Legionaires disease and what caused it.

"Outbreaks of legionellosis have occurred after persons have breathed mists that come from a water source (e.g., air conditioning cooling towers, whirlpool spas, showers) contaminated with Legionella bacteria. Persons may be exposed to these mists in homes, workplaces, hospitals, or public places. Legionellosis is not passed from person to person, and there is no evidence of persons becoming infected from auto air conditioners or household window air-conditioning units."

However nothing is ever 100%.
