I know the Y33 Q45 is a very reliable car, but I haven't been able to find much on what I can expect to pay in routine maintainance on a 2000 Q45t. I know it will be more expensive than my G20, but how much more? Also, I know the dual mode suspension on the touring models is expensive to replace...is this something that a warranty would cover? And can I trust a Nissan dealer with a Y33 or will I have to go to an Infiniti dealer for service? And what kind of gas mileage can I expect?

I don't think that car has a dual mode suspension. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Y33 is a reliable car, however, nothing is forever!Expect 30-50$ for DIY oil change. (dealer - donno) Parts aren't very expensive, labor is. If you are not DYIer then it might get expensive!Rear shocks (not Turing) on my Q45 quoted(Y33) - 730$. Replcement of KS (knock sensors) almost - 800$ Replacement of Turbine Sensor (transmission) - 1000$ and so on!If the lumbar support doesn't work, be ready to pay 300-400$ for R+R of it!You get the IDEA MPG wise - expect from 16 to 22 city-hwy!I'm getting approx 19 (60hwy/40city). Cheers!

So far it's been what I was told before getting it: bullet-proof.

I'm doing Amsoil, PS flush, brembo OE rotors and Wagner ceramic pads tomorrow (+ flushing of course).

F&R shock r&r shouldn't cost more than 4-450 bucks. 730 for rear only is insane, the rears are total cake, fronts are more work, but still, no where near that.

This is by far the best car I've had. I love what I drive.

Sounds like I would probably want an extended warranty then.

Naa parts really arent going to be that much more expensive.. Aftermarket warranties are HIGHLY overrated IMO... Since Y33 are a touch mroe reliable, that 1000 toward a good warrany woudl go a LONG way toward all your maintenance and some things like that.

Yeah but as soon as the car needs a major repair the warranty pays for itself. Plus the Infiniti CPO warranty will give me a car to take anywhere if I have a breakdown and ship my car back to me (important due to the drives between MA and VA I will have to do).

I take obsessive care of my car...during summer breaks from school I work in car sales so I'm always surrounded by gleaming new cars. I want to be able to park my car next to a showroom new car and have customers ask if that's the new model (which has happened with my G20).

The Y33s are very reliable, but dealer maintenance can be quite expensive.A lot would depend on the mileage of your car. I bought a 97 Q45 two years ago with 57,000 miles. The turbine sensor went bad, as previously posted the dealer wants at least $1,000, but I had it done at a good transmission shop for $600. Look for fluid leaks from the transmission as possible sign of this problem. Recently I had the front struts, tie rods, and stabilizer connection rods replaced along with many of the bushings; it was $1,400 at the dealer (the struts were leaking). I also had a variable intake air control sensor go bad, for about $400 at the dealer. I would recommend a good warranty from a reputable company -- my $1,110 warranty covered everything above except the air sensor or about $1,900 in expenses, and I still have 5,000 miles to go. I have the oil changed at the dealer and it costs $42, more than Jiffy Lube but the dealer knows what they are doing and will be very eager to let you know if anything else needs attention, whether it really does or not, you can always get a second opinion. If I did not have a warranty I would never go to the dealer unless absolutely necessary since a high quality mechanic would be significantly less expensive, as I found with the turbine sensor. Also, someone at an auto parts store told me that they replaced their Dad's Nissan adjustable shocks with non adjustables and they worked fine, although of course they don't adjust. If this is possible, it may be an option that would be much less expensive. The non-touring 99-01 models have non adjustable shocks I believe, as do all of the 97-98 Q45 touring and standard models.

Would blown shocks be covered under warranty or is that considered a wear item?

You can read my write up on Turbine sensor. zerothread?id=116355I am a mechanic by trade, so I am no alien to such things!Dealer prices just plain stupid, how they justify that!Shocks are wer item unless it has a defect form factory. I've done a lot of suspension work, Q45 is one of the easiest ones If you have simple strut spring compressor, it a walk in a park jobCheers!

The struts, shocks, and bushings are covered under my warranty, fortunately. I found a warranty company that would since I knew the shocks or struts would probably go bad -- the concern was that they wouldn't start leaking soon enough to be covered (I realize they were going before they leaked). However, I think it is true that most warranties do not cover struts and shocks. The warranty I got at the time was marketed under the name warranybynet.
