The Y33s are very reliable, but dealer maintenance can be quite expensive.A lot would depend on the mileage of your car. I bought a 97 Q45 two years ago with 57,000 miles. The turbine sensor went bad, as previously posted the dealer wants at least $1,000, but I had it done at a good transmission shop for $600. Look for fluid leaks from the transmission as possible sign of this problem. Recently I had the front struts, tie rods, and stabilizer connection rods replaced along with many of the bushings; it was $1,400 at the dealer (the struts were leaking). I also had a variable intake air control sensor go bad, for about $400 at the dealer. I would recommend a good warranty from a reputable company -- my $1,110 warranty covered everything above except the air sensor or about $1,900 in expenses, and I still have 5,000 miles to go. I have the oil changed at the dealer and it costs $42, more than Jiffy Lube but the dealer knows what they are doing and will be very eager to let you know if anything else needs attention, whether it really does or not, you can always get a second opinion. If I did not have a warranty I would never go to the dealer unless absolutely necessary since a high quality mechanic would be significantly less expensive, as I found with the turbine sensor. Also, someone at an auto parts store told me that they replaced their Dad's Nissan adjustable shocks with non adjustables and they worked fine, although of course they don't adjust. If this is possible, it may be an option that would be much less expensive. The non-touring 99-01 models have non adjustable shocks I believe, as do all of the 97-98 Q45 touring and standard models.
