I did a search (might have used wrong keywords) and posted under Online MechanicAre these suspensions compatible? Looking to see if shocks/springs for a HY33 will go on a Y33. Any help is appreciated.

Don't know to which suspensions you are referring, but the G50 is lableled HG50 on the firewall.

95-99 Gloria/Cedric are the ones that I found labeled HY33

HY33 is a Cedric. The chassis is the same, you can use the same springs and shocks as the cars weights are very similar and in Japanese magazines, or catalogs, most suspension parts show the multiple Y33 chassis listings for XYZ part number.

So if I were to put HY33 springs on my Y33 what shocks could I utilize? I think I read that lowering springs reduce shock life by 40%, is that correct? If that's the case could I run regular shocks with the understanding that they'll need to be changed sooner?

It's pure speculation as to how much it may reduce shock life. I would say for stock shocks that's probably pretty accurate, but for high performance shocks that were made for stiffer, lower springs, it's not accurate. It also depends on how you drive, I drive fast and aggressive, but also gentle, if that makes any sense.

The KYB SR Specials part number NSC6004 FRONT and NSG9069 REAR for Nissan Cima (Q45) FHY33/FGY33 is also the same part number for Nissan Cedric HBY33/HY33/PY33/UY33 and Gloria HBY33/HY33/PY33/UY33.

Cedrics and Glorias used did not use the VH41DE, but smaller but iron block VG30DE, and later VQ30DE with some turbos thrown in. I would worry about the front springs from these cars, especially if lowered.

These are a Tein aftermarket setup that I am talking about, not the factory setup. What is the worry with the front springs? You lost me.

In other words, the part numbers are the same for these aftermarket KYB shocks. They're what I have on my Q, and I have Tein's on my Q which fit's Cima, Cedric and Gloria Y33 chassis cars.

Brian, the engines weigh almost the same thing, so that's not a concern. The KYB and Tein part numbers say they work on the standard Cima (V6) AND the Cima V8.

I imagine they are close as the VG30DETT is fairly close to the VH45DE. The VG30 iron block adds some extra.

Little misunderstanding, Falk I knew what you were saying, I did not know what Maxnix was getting at. Thanks for the clarification though.

The US only recieved the upmarket FY33 Cima with the VH41DE, but no AWD versions.

We DID receive a North American version of the Cedric, not on the Y33 chassis, but the Y34 chassis, it's called the first gen M45 (2003-2005).

Falk, any word on your springs you ordered? Is there a set still up for grabs?

There is still a set available. They should be here pretty soon now too.
