Has anyone done a gated shifter on a y33. Did any model come from the factory with one? I've seen a picture somewhere on the web and it gives a modern look to the interior of the car.

Y33 never came with one, however you might be able to retrofit something from a G50.

Seems like since it is the same transmission, maybe one off an 1996 OBD II G50 would mate up?

One of the few things I dislike about the FGY33. Nissan did everything differently from the G50, not always better.

i really doubt they changed the shifter connections much. Point is, I doubt if it makes any difference if its OBDII or not..

Probably not, but just in case they did, i would start there and look at the connections. There are internal differences (strainer screen), so there may be external ones also.

actually it might as OBDII cars have a revolution sensor on top of the transmission as far as I know thats te case and that sensor is needed not to throw a code

yeah I dont think they really changed anything on the transmission itself, especially something that would cause a housing difference.. if anything, the changes were in how the sensor data was monitored and how codes were thrown/stored.
