Guys, my friends and I have owned several nissan products. We have always found that the pre-96 nissan injectors are prone to failure - comparing to injectors in other makes. Even my sentra had a failed injector which requires 87 octane.

Y33 guys - did any of you suffer from an injector failure? I am just curious to find out. Y33 are getting faily old now and it's probably time for the injectors to go south.

Edit: fixing typo.

Injectors don't fail as long as you purchase fuel that complies with their design specification.

Botique blends, MTBE and ethanol [plus water] were/are never tolerated for long.

Tech thanks for your response. I know your Q has 3xx,xxx miles on it. Did you ever have injector issues?

I remember reading you had the fuel rail flushed few times. Can you please tell me what's the interval for the fuel rail flush? (Please excuse my inability to read the FSM at this point) Also just to re-iterate my curiousity did you have Y33s or newer Qs coming in for injector issues?

That's a problem, because ethanol blends aren't going away any time soon.

Unfortunately Atlanta and the South have very very few injector failures so we have no data.

It has been years since we've changed a Q injector on any model that didn't show ohmatic changes. And years since any local car had ohmatic changes.....................now out of staters from oxygenated areas occur all the time.

So no empirical evidence that later injectors have greater resistance to alcohol based additive deterioration?

That's exactly what I wanted to ask. Thanks Brian.
