Hey guys, as of last Monday I consider myself a proud owner of a true VIP platform: FGY33. Yes, yes the infamous Nissan Cima (well not really a Cima but anyways...) I bought it on Copart for $280, black on black with 220,xxx on the ODO.
The day I brought it home

With a little bit of damage of course

After assessing the damage I discovered that I'll need to replace a left LCA and inner tie rod among other, more obvious things like headlight, fender etc.

Well, my question is are there any other Nissan family cars that use this very same lower control arms (maybe a pathfinder or S14).
I searched on here, Zilvia, VSC and can't seem to find a definite answer. I have a set of S13 LCA's and those are definitely shorter(not to mention that I'll have to replace a ball-joint for proper fitment) I know that S14 are longer than S13(cant recall exactly but it's either 5mm or 15mm) and they use same ball-joint as Y33 but I do not have one laying around to compare to the Y33 one.

Can anyone help me out with this if you guys know? Dealer wants something like $260 for ONE LCA!! I don't think I want to pay that much, so if anybody can provide any info on LCA compatibility it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Find one off a juker......but seriously if a $260 part is making you nervous you might want to dump this for $300 bucks and make a $20 profit. These are not easy cars to find parts for except for OEM. Junk yard is you best bet, a S13 one (if it would fit but it will probably not) will not cost you much less.

I appreciate your input bro, but that does not answer my question.

Unfortunately, the Y33 front suspension is not the same as any other Nissan/Infiniti.

I am actually in the process of swapping all of my suspension over to S13/S14 stuff because of this.

Thank you guys for the responses, yes S13x is right. Nissan did not use these LCA's in any other of their cars they are exclusive to Q45/Cima family. Took me some time to find that out.

The LCA itself may be exclusive but the base and taper of the ball joint are shared.

given how bashed up your LCA look I think an $500 investment seems like a good start. If that is all original suspension your going to to need the tension rods, springs and struts/shocks. There are few choices except for OEM and special order places that sell KYB SR Specials (only aftermarket shocks/struts but only via special order in US). This all might add up to 2k but you'd have a fresh suspension to get rolling.

what is your goal with the car, to get it back to original or to limp it around as a toy?

Yes, I've done plenty of research and decided not to go S13/S14 route at this time but instead go with Y33 stuff. A friend of mine here in STL has a set of JIC coils that he had on his Q and I'm trying to talk him into selling them to me. I also bought the LCA and the inner tie rod yesterday which are going to be installed this weekend, also thinking about putting S14 Megan TC rods as well at the same time(still have those from my S14 days).

The Q will primarily be a project car but I won't be doing anything crazy with it. Just a set of coils and probably Eurolines. Also I'm contemplating an idea of swapping VH45 bottom end into it but I'll see how that goes.

coils at this point are the easy way to go.......I would go that way if I hadn't done my suspension 6 years ago now when there were no coilovers readily available. Good move putting fresh LCA and innter tie rods, that will automatically make the car handle way better.

Good luck, hope to see some pictures of it when it is cleaned up.
