Hey guys. Proud new owner of a 97 Q45t. I checked the memoryfab.com website and they had a lot of body kits for the Y33. I know the JDM bumpers are different than the US ones, but I was wondering if any of the front lips that they have fit the US front bumpers?

With modification to the lip, you'll need to cut the lip and extend it on the sides to make it fit. I went with Stillen, it's the only one that fits US bumpers out of the box, and IMO it does a great job of working with the factory lines of the US bumper.

The more I look at yours, the more I like it. When you first added it, I really did not like it too much but it's growing on me now.

I totally understand why some of you would want to change - modify the Y33 USDM front bumper.

The USDM front bumper by itself is very very OUT-DATED and I would never own a y33 if I knew I couldn't change it.

here's a USDM front bumper conversion:

You didn't actually modify the bumper did you? I thought you just modified the JDM lip to make it fit.

Hi kevin,

yeah only the JDM lip was modified but it was in a sense "molded" into the USDM bumper because all the gaps were sealed and painted.

I think it's about 275 through Stillen, not sure if they even still have them, but if they do you could probably work them for a deal. Install was absolute cake. Two trim screws on the sides in back, and the way my plate is mounted sandwiches it in front. It would almost stay on without anything, only hitting something would knock it off. Fits very snugly.

hey guys, seriously I say this with good intention and in no way am trying to cut down on anyone.

that Stillen lip spoiler just kills the Y33 in every way. It is way way WAAAAY TOOO aggressive and the spoiler by ITSELF does not belong on the car, you will need the sideskirts and the rear bumper spoiler to match and to make it all come together.

if a lip is added to the front bumper by ITSELF then it has to be very light and thin. this way it will still blend into the original design of the car without needing sideskirts and rear bumper additions.

You know what they say, opinions are like a$$holes, everyone's got one

I would say "kills the Y33 in every way" is an extreme overstatement. A lip is only a small part of a car, it's not the whole thing, and IMO, it doesn't make or break it.

Personally, I think Stillen did a great job of utilizing the factory lines and flowing directly off them. From the side profile, it's the same exact height off the ground as the OEM side skirts. Have you actually seen one in person? I love mine. When I first saw it on Bryan's white Q about 2 years ago, I thought it looked great. His is painted though, which makes a big difference.

Just to let you guys know WALD kit the rear don't fit US spec also. You will have to cut it and extend it. Front is totally redone. But must say WALD kit is very strong. I had it for 3 years now. Every day I go home, I scrape it to the ground. Lip is still good. Can not go wrong with JDM stuff.

That looks nice, might have to throw down on one of those.
