I'm about to order all 4 struts and bellows for my 1997 Y33 Q45. The front struts and strut mounts are totally shot.

The car has around 130k and everything is original. Do the rear strut mounts generally wear out on these cars or can I most likely reuse what I have?

Thanks for the link. I have stock springs. Think they'll still work?

Everything made of rubber must be replaced every 6-7 years if you want to get close to that brand new car feeling!Multi thousands of dollars of rubber isolated items! If your standards are high you can never spend enough or replace enough things!

Why "you've lost that lovin feeling" riding down the road.

Fair enough. Today I confirmed that my front passenger strut mount is completely separated causing a terrible clunk when torque is put on and off the front axle (braking on and off).

Let me rephrase my question to better suit my car and what I hope to get out of it. Is it common or uncommon to find the rear strut mounts to fail on Y33 chassis cars, or can one expect them to last a long time, being reusable for at least 1 strut replacement despite visible surface deterioration (surface cracking/dryness etc)?

Should I buy a set of rear strut mounts as well?

You have three options:1. Buy all new mounts and replace them regardless of how they look. This costs money and you may waste some money replacing parts that don't need it but you will be good for another 130K miles.2. Buy all new mounts and only replace the ones that look bad. You save some money (less shipping costs) but will have to replace them eventually.3. Buy front ones and pray to God that the rears are okay once the entire rear suspension is apart. This is usually what I do and then I go and buy new parts which is what i shoud've done to start with.

It really depnds on how long you intend on keeping the car. If you plan on driving another 130K then replace everything, the price is minimal for the investment. If you plan on selling next year then don't waste your money.
