So I've never seen a wiring diagram for the bose amp in the Y33, I know its not in the FSM and I've never seen a link to it. I want it because I plan on installing a carputer in the next month or so and I plan on using the bose setup temporarily until I get the time to do the stereo.

If somebody has a link please help me out.

If nobody has a link... I just bought an Oscilloscope that should come in the mail in a couple days. If anybody is interested I can take some measurements and post up a wiring diagram for the setup.

Well, I guess you know the Bose amps are in each speaker assembly. They are equalized for each speaker, but I have never seen a circuit diagram for them.

Look forward to your post.

Actually, there is one amp mounted under the rear deck and then an amp hanging on each of the rear deck "subs". I'm assuming the bose deck sends the audio signal (hopefully 1-3V) to the amp which then does the EQ'ing and I've noticed it also does some compressing at very loud volumes. It also does a crossover then sends a low level audio signal to each of the sub amps which power the subs.

this is all speculation though.

I really do hope that the deck at the front only reads CD's and stuff, for what I want to do I don't want the deck in there but still want to use the amp. if the amp doesn't do any of the signal processing though then I'll be stuck with the deck. We'll see though. Oscope comes in tomorrow we'll see when I get time to do it.

Just go to Circuit city, Best Buys, Al & Ed or Crutchfield and buy a Metra/ Nissan harness kit. That should take care of your problem.

good call on that. Didn't even know that existed. only problem would be running RCA's from the carputer in the trunk to the wiring harness up front then the signal goes back again to the amp.

plus I think I can make a cheaper solution as if it matters when we're talking about 20 bux.

thanks for the idea though. I might end up using it in the long run, we'll see

another note.... the fact that the metra kit exists verifies that the signal processing is done in the amp. good news.

I'm not quite sure what exactally carputer suppose to do. Sounds like it's an out put devise not an input devise. If it's a out put devise to play audio signal you need AUX input to your radio. 1) Can you explain what is the purpose of having carputer installed?2) If you are expecting the carputer to play through the stock radio to bose system with RCA out put, You need to get Nissas AUX input adoptor to plug in through CD changer port.3) If you don't want to run the RCA to the front disconnect the pre-wired factory changer cable and plug the Nissan AUX plug at the trunk so you don't have to remove the radio.

Yes your right I need an aux input but not into the radio but into the amp. the deck/head unit/radio (whatever we want to call it) will be completely removed.

There are many purposes, the main 2 for me are 1, having over 100Gb worth of MP3's avail to play at the touch of a button, no more fumbling through CDs searching for what I want. 2, GPS, it will be a full function navigation unit also. the computer will also be set up for wifi for data transfer, it can play DVD's, it can bluetooth to my cell phone to allow phone over the stereo. it can pull ODBII info for display or logging. plus mine will have a good deal of sound processing software on it do do an active 3way front stage on the stereo, the computer will handle all of the crossovers, delay, EQ that I could possibly want.

this would work if I was going to keep the stock deck, I'm replacing that spot with a touchscreen though.

I want to replace the radio.

I'm thinking that for my purposes I will wire in a few RCA plugs at the input of the bose amp then plug my computer directly into the amp.

Ya know, I think this is a lot simpler than it sounds. The signal out of your carputer sound board will be the same sort of signal the deck puts out. All you need to do is find the signal inputs to the rear-mounted amp. You might check its output to the rear speaker amps first. It should be similar voltage as the inputs. If so, it's just the signal processor and not an "amp". If not, it IS an amp and you'll have to wire the carputer into the CD/radio. All you need is a multimeter to check it.

Then, as you've suggested, you just wire the carputer into the rear-mounted box. When you swap out the deck, you'll want to bring the carputer outputs forward to the deck and run everything through it, I assume.

Now I understand what you want to do. It's going to be easier. You should have said so in the first place. If you are going to disconnect the radio go buy DEI Hi/Lo converter and Nissan harness. Then all you have to do is wire up Hi/Lo converter to either front or the rear speaker lead of the wire harness (I would buy two Hi/Lo for front and rear)and plug the harness into the car. Now you are ready to connect the RCA from the carputer to Hi/Lo converter.Next thing is there is blue wire which is remote amp turn in the nissan wire harness. Connect blue(remote) wire to carputer remote turn on if it's equipped or hook it up to the yellow(ignition) wire at the harness so the amp will turn on when the key is in the ignition. This way you don't have to alter the factory wires or the harness and if you ever want the factory unit back in it's plug and play.
