Y31 - Y33 ..... whats the difference?

I'm trying to get parts to lower my 97 and I've been told that my VIN makes my car a Y31 and not a Y33. Whats the difference? Any clue if the Y33 struts and springs will fit the Y31?

I searched and didn't come up with anything. Thanks for the help.

what the hell is a Y31? That year cima never came to the states, certainly LONG before it was dubbed a Q45.

Whoever told you that needs to set the pipe down for a second, because if you look on the plate on the firewall it says FGY33...

He is telling me that the car is a Y31 based on my VIN....you are correct....motor plate is Y33. Please forgive me.....I'm still a newb....12 posts total with this one.

well that certainly makes finding struts for a Y33 easier now doesnt it!!

Y33 never came to the USA either as it is the JDM Gloria or Cedric. A JDM Cima is a FY33 and a 1997-2001 US Q45 (Q41) is an FGY33.

search on the topic, an adventure to get new springs and struts/shocks. There are sets of Espelir lower springs for sale and you can find some KYB SR Specials for your car. I have the Tein lowerign springs and the KYBs and it transforms the car into a BMW M Series handling wise.
