I should recieve the intake today and I should install it sometime this week. My next project is to get an Y-pipe. Should I get the cattman or something else? Thanks for the advice.

They are all pretty similar in design. I got mine from Bidget exhaust in Cananda. http://www.budgetexhaust.ca/

If you order a Warpspeed...order directly from their store.

But I think Warpspeed's pipes had some problems with the 4th gens.

idk for sure...I know I have one on my 3rd gen and its GREAT.

I'm sure someone will chime in soon about them.

I've had my Warpspeed ss y pipe for almost a year now and I love it. It took some convincing as far as fitment goes, not a lot, but a lil. But that's expected. I love the sound and the power, I'd def. recommend Warpspeed.

They claim that the headers alone add 15HP and the y pipe 18-20!! is this possible?

Headers are only worth the price on the 3.5L due to the elimination of the warm up cats. Just stick with the y-pipe.

As for the site I listed, it clearly states the site is under construction, but it does list their phone number.

When you purchase a new CA spec y-pipe for the 99-03 max's, it eliminates bank 2's pre-cat. If you got headers with it, it'll remove bank 1's pre-cat. I've heard that the header upgrade will give you a good 5-8 to the wheels and with y-pipe it'll give you a lil more obviously. Y-pipe alone, it should give you 15 to the wheels for CA spec, but with your 96 max, it's a FED spec max, so that means it removes both pre-cats giving you a considerable gain over the CA spec max's. You should expect at least 15 whp! Before Custom Maxima went out of biz, they dyno'd a 98 max with their y-pipe and hi-flo cat and with no other mods, it was a gain of 24 hp to the wheels! I def. don't think I got 24 to the wheels with that combo on my 99 CA spec, but I def. feel like it's easily over 10-12 hp gain. Great investment in my opinion!

Now that I added the Intake the car got noisy... if I add the y pipe with headers will it get much noisier?

For future reference, Budget is now LSS Exhaust.

Lyell took over Budget.

I'm thinking of getting headers to squize those extra hp's... which headers go best along with the warpspread pipe.

I installed the y pipe today. From what i see there is no difference in the lower rpms but once you go over 2500rpm the car pulls like never before. Aside from that i was concerned about the noise level but it seems the noise is about the same with a much more sweet sound. Other than that I am happy with the y pipe.

I have a 99 Max and I did the headers and y pipe swap with some ebay stuff and I cut out my ERG pipe that goes from the back exhaust manifold to some emissions BS and it's not running right. What do you think my problem might be? I heard that the ERG pipe wouldn't effect it. Any opinions?

that emissions bs was probably oxygen sensors which adjust your air fuel ratios so you are either running rich or lean

Did you plug or cap both ends where the EGR pipe goes?

Don't waste your money. There are other modifications that have a much higher HP per $ ratio like installing a VI or an ECU upgrade. Hell, even when I put the 3.5 in my car, I didn't buy aftermarket headers and just stuck the stock VQ30s on.

@THT well using the VQ30 headers is a performance mod in itself. I believe the 3.5 headers had the precats in the headers, and the Vq30 doesn"t have header precats, so buying aftermarket headers or vq30 headers is pretty much the same thing except smaller diameter, which doesn't do crap until you boost right?

My point was there's negligible difference between stock VQ30 headers and aftermarket VQ35 headers which is why I chose to save my money and put the stock 3.0L headers on my 3.5. You are correct that 3.5 would benefit from a header swap due to removal of the precats. In a 3.0L, the precats were in the downpipe. Since the OP has a 4th gen, the downpipe should be replaced, not the headers. And yes, headers would get replaced if boosted as well as a full 3" mandrel-bent exhaust system.

ok i had my y pipe for about a year im just nerves to put it on. but what i want to no is should i go to the dealer and get the gasket or just use the hardware they gave me with the y pipe. by the way its a warp speed and is it that hard to put on. do you really have to heat the bolts

Go get the Nissan gaskets...they're cheap. As for heating the bolts, I found letting PB Blaster soak for 10 minutes was more effective. And a long breaker bar.
