From what I understand, bc the AC V6 has two cats (one on each header), the Y-Pipe will not cause it to fail any sniffer tests and it won't flag any ECU checks, as the third cat that the Y-Pipe removes is not monitored. The only inspection the Y-Pipe will potentially cause you to fail is a visual inspection. Other than that, I don't know much else about inspections or whatnot cause I live in good ol' Bammer and we don't care with as many turbodiesel straight-pipe super duty redneck pickups that we have running around here.

Y-pipe wont throw a check engine light, theres no sensors attached to it... on the V6, all the sensors are by the headers. if you try to smog your car in CA with the Y-pipe you will fail 100% for sure.... unless you know a guy that passes it anyways lol it deletes the cat so in some states thats illegal and in some states its not (lucky a** ppl in Florida).

Im in NJ, havent installed mine yet (cant wait, its in the basement collecting dust). BUT...one of my boys drives a sedan with it installed and has never failed inspection. As someone else stated the only reason you MIGHT fail is for a visual, but that would mean the insepction workers would have to know every exhaust system of every car that rolls through there. I think you are good.

UNLESS they look at the sticker under the hood... I think our car has that sticker but I'm not sure. some cars have the stickers with the diagram of the catalyic converters and also of the way the belt goes on the pulleys.

Hussain,You are not correct in your statement. The United Stated Environmental Protection Agency has mandated all 50 states comply with vehicle emission standards. Here is a link:

EPA http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/...2.tplTitle 40- Protection of the Environment

Deleting a catalytic converter is illegal in all 50 states, but not all states have a vehicle inspection program.

You made the wild claim …“and in some states its not (lucky a** ppl in Florida).”

It is illegal in Florida to operate a vehicle on public roadways that has had a catalytic converter deleted. Here is Florida’s Motor vehicle law: Florida Motor Vehicle Code 316.2935 Air pollution control equipment; tampering prohibited;

(1)(a) It is unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle in Florida that has been tampered with in violation of this section, as determined pursuant to subsection (7). Tampering is defined as the dismantling, removal, or rendering ineffective of any air pollution control device or system which has been installed on a motor vehicle by the vehicle manufacturer except to replace such device or system with a device or system equivalent in design and function to the part that was originally installed on the motor vehicle.

(4) This section shall be enforced by the Department of Environmental Protection and any law enforcement officer of this state.

(2) No person shall operate on the public roads or streets of this state any motor vehicle that has been tampered with in violation of this section, as determined pursuant to subsection (7).

(7) In addition, the department shall adopt rules as necessary to conform to requirements of federal law, to establish procedures to determine compliance with this section, including specifying what tampering activities constitute a violation of this section, and to provide for exceptions and waivers. For those rules applicable pursuant to subsection (1) to licensed motor vehicle dealers for certification by visual observation, the air pollution control devices or systems that shall be included in such certification for motor vehicles dated model year 1981 or later are the catalytic converter, fuel inlet restrictor, unvented fuel cap, exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR), air pump and/or air injector system (AIS), and fuel evaporative emissions system (EVP). The department may by rule remove or add devices or systems to this test if justified by developments in air pollution control technology or changes in federal law.

Here is a link to an article that appeared in Import Tuner magazine. They conducted dynamometer testing on a vehicle that they had changed the catalytic converter.
