IDK if you guys heard, but I had gotten in a car accident and my Maxima is totaled. Now we have a spare 95 auto GXE sitting at my house. In order to avoid another car payment on top of the insurance hike, Ive decided not to get another 4th gen and just work on this one. Thing is that I need a FULL exhaust replacement. Everything under the intake manifold is shot and needs to go. My dad says that I can go aftermarket on some things so looks like Im gonna have a lil bit of fun out of the deal. My question is. How much will the y-pipe actually effect the emissions? The car has been sitting for almost 2 years now, but runs every now and then. I need the factory y-pipe, o2 sensor, cat, and cat back replaced. I may go to a muffler shop for some, but with the new cat and y-pipe will it pass? BTW, I think Im goin to go with the BRM over Cattman for the price factor.

And for question # 2. What kind of cat do you guys recommend? I was thinking along the lines of the CE one, but I havent heard any reviews of it yet.

That is all for now. Thanks, your input is appreciated.

Any cat with a govt emissions "approval" will work out just fine. When the car is tested, they simply use a mirror to see if the cat in installed. I know plenty of people who have punched out their cats and pre-cats and still pass emissions tests.

If you want factory parts, the cheapest source would be a local salvage yard. You can probably get the whole y-pipe back for relatively cheap (in comparison to new).
