Hi everyone,Have any of you heard of, or used Xzilon for your M45/M35? A friend of mine mentioned that some dealer was trying to "sell" a full interior/exterior treatment using this stuff for a mere $450 which is supposed to last up to 5 years. I had never heard of it before, and asked him to ask the dealer what they mean by "5 years" (ie: what is supposed to last for 5 years - the shine, UV protection, water beading, etc.).

Anyway, any shared experiences with this stuff would be greatly appreciated. web site: xzilon.com

According to Autopia and other sites it's a scam. It is applied and _should_ last 6 months or so but the paint will be somewhat less glossy. Their "5 year guarantee" is just 5 years of free re-application. If you read the terms of their contract you'll also notice the guarantee is void if you use any compounds, polishes, other sealants or waxes, or use any polishers on the car.

Stick with the polish you can get from your local stores as they will last up to 6 months and you can wax over it for a proper shine.

No. I've seen it turn white cars a little blue in the past (probably the fault of the guy waxing the car, but still....). I like my Klasse and Sonus products at the moment.

Zaino does work best for dark colored cars.

Interesting .... I have to say it worked very well on both the silver cars I did (my old Q45 and my wife's Acura). On my M45, I tried a different product (5 Star something) and am not as happy with it as with the Zaino. So, next round, it will be Zaino again.

Some people swear by xyzilon I really doubt it works and the markup on that product is extreme. The kit itself is worth <$50 and the guys applying it make ~$10/hr and it takes about 1.5 hours to "apply". Dealers offer these products because there is a huge financial incentive to everyone but the consumer.

If I may rant for a minute. Due to cutbacks at work I have to wash every car I work on now I see people who use their own wax or polish repels water better and has more depth and reflective properties than even a slate colored gt-r with 9 miles on it that was treated with xyz. There is no visible improvement and people drop their car off dirty and get it back clean and shiny. Its clean and sort of waxed. An autopian would not approve.

Buyer beware I call shenanigans on xzilon.

I like Zaino but I don't have the patience to apply it correctly. I apply a quick coat of Tech2 on my car and it works great, although thanks to some birds and their caustic waste+black paint+triple digit temper I need a clay bar or maybe something more drastic. Most people who get xyz think it is more than it is and buy into the marketing hype. If I were to buy a new car I would take the money that would be spent on something like this and find a professional to zaino it.

Steve and everyone,Thank you VERY much for your thoughts. I promptly called my friend to tell him that he's crazy to let the dealer apply Xzilon. I feel good that this forum and everyone's great advice saved him $450! Now, if only he was buying an M. (He bought a Mercury Mariner - whatever!)

If anyone knows of a decent detail guy in the Dallas area that won't overcharge for good work, let me know. I may be interested in paying for a little paint correction job. I have a few subtle but anyoing swirls and surface scratches that I'm probably not skilled enough to buff out myself.

Thanks again!
