Xzilon - is it great or it's just a waste of money

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

My dealer is an authorized agent for Xzilon and is trying to sell me the product on my EX35. Is it really a great product or just a waste of money? What do you folks think?

I don't know much about xzilion but most of the stuffs dealer try to sell to you are junks with the exception of 3m films to protect your car's front end from debris but even so, they overcharge you for it. my advice is not getting xzilon or anything from dealership is offering you and save that money for better car care products.

Show this to your dealer.

XZILION, INC. CASE SETTLES FOR $9,800 On November 27, 2007, Xzilion, Inc. entered into a settlement agreement with ARB and paid $9,800 to resolve the violations of the Consumer Products Regulations. During 2005, Xzilion sold, supplied, and offered for sale in California the Xzilion Molecular Adhesion product subject to the VOC limits for automotive waxes, polishes, sealants, or glazes in Title 17, CCR, § 94509(a). This product failed to meet the 15 percent VOC limit. The company also failed to clearly display on the container a date of manufacture or code indicating a date, and failed to file an explanation for the code indicating the date of manufacture.

These high-end guys swear by it:http://www.parkplaceltd.com/de...paint

Sure it isn't Xzilon?http://www.xzilon.com

The high end link is a luxury dealer but the fact of the matter is they still have a contact with this dealer. I don't think real enthusiats look at xyz with such a favorable point of view. You will not find any one at the dealer that can/will give you the same answer. They have a warranty...I don't know if that makes up for the sticker shock. I'm personally skeptical of this product, the majority of Experts have a similar opinion for their own reasons. It's all in how you take car of the finish of your car.

I did a whole bunch of googling on this one and can't really find any honest long term results but Infiniti doesn't recommend these products themselves.

All I am saying is do your research and make an educated decision before buying any post sale items like that.

Thanks for all your opinions & thoughts. Considering that I take good care of my vehicles inside & out and always park them inside the garage, I think the price is just too high despite the warranty. Anyway, it was expected my dealer also had some up-sell for add-ons, but they were never a hard sell.

The same company also has a product called Granitize. They claim that it's the only sealant approved by Boeing for their jets.We too have been totally skeptical of dealer applied aftermarket stuff. But when we got our 08 EX 35 with 7K two weeks ago, we decided to give the exterior treatment a try. Not the interior. Here's why:

The car is BLACK. We live in an area with extremely hard water that when it dries, it leaves a white ring - everytime. Try as you might, there are times here in the desert where irrigation systems (lawn sprinklers) come on, and you get wet. When you hand wash in the summer, the high heat (100+) and low humidity (8%) will dry your car off pronto, often leaving spots try as you might.

The desert trees drop extremely bad stuff, and the birds here do likewise. Plus, we negotiated a much, much much lower price than they first quoted. Because of the extreeeeeme conditions we live in, and the car being black, we felt it was worth a try since they guaranteed it won't water spot.

I've been in contact with the company and they tell me not to wax it for 3 months, and then, a hand wax with only carnuba.

If you're interested in how this all shakes out, let me know. Mark
