I know lots of people have 20" wheels and that the +35 offset on the XXR 006es doesn't seem to cause too much trouble but the fact that I never see the Altima coupe listed as vehicles that can use the 006 in online wheel stores worries me. Can anyone be so kind as to confirm they're usable on Eibach-lowered A/C ? Some folks run the 20" / +35 offset / Eibach lowered combo but you can't blame me for having some fear before spending $1,500+ right?

I'm running the XXR type 006 but in 18x8.5 all the way around. The front has a 2" lip while the back has 3.5 lip. All 4 wheels have a +35 off set so basically they are the same on all 4 corners. Although they are the same, the lip depth is different there by giving it the appearance of a staggered look. I'm also runnin 225/45/18s but I'm sure you can run 245/45 on the back and 235/45 on the front if you really wanted to.

I was thinking of switching out to 20's next year but I have to plan out how far the wheel will stick out than it is now.

What size setup are you thinking of and where are you getting them from? I can probably get you a better deal.

BTW, I'm also running the eibach drop!

Forgive me if I'm off in left field, but I'm not aware of any way a wheel can be the same width and offset, yet have a different size lip as you're describing??

Also, OP be cautious as 245/45 in a 20" tire would be much taller, then his 18's.

haha Rex, I thought the same thing. I was like How can you have the same wheel size and offset yet have different lip sizes? Well let me tell ya, there is such an animal! Looking at the wheel closer, you'll see that the center hub is actually deeper and the spokes are more to the front of the wheel while the rear wheel has a smaller hub and the spokes are more towards the back.

As for wheel size, I always try to be close as possible to OEM is not to mess up the mph on the speedo.

I use this site http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Since stock is size is 215/55/17, the best size to get in 20's as to not mess up the speedo is 225/35/20

The setup I mentioned would work for a 18's

I don't see why this is a difficult concept to understand... if you truly understand the definition of offsets..

the center of the wheel is the center of the wheel.... that doesn't change...

if the offset is merely the point at which the hub mounts as related to the center of the wheel, that can easily stay the same, on the same width wheel, while changing lip sizes...you just vary the point of attachment of the spokes to the wheel... Spoke attachment to the base of the wheel has NOTHING to do with determining wheel offset!

also, I've never met anybody running 225/35/20's... it could be done, but why put so little rubber on the road? the 245/35/20's that everyone runs not only puts +20 mm more rubber on the road, but the sidewalls are thicker also, providing a more comfortable ride!

So, if I understand this correctly, XXR has 2 wheels of the same size and offset with different size lips?

Sorry for my mistakenly types message above. I understand offsets and "how" they would do it, but I can't believe any wheel manufacturer (much less and economy brand) would do this. Do you have the boxes or any labels, do they refer to different "disks"?

Yes, XXR has this set up and I believe they are the first...at least on the 006 model. Not sure about the others though. They are labeled as "rear".

I know in the past Sportmax wheels were branded cheap but through the years they have improved and I think they are moving forward as a better wheel maker.

Learn something new everyday.

This wheel features MAX Lip Technology from XXR to give the staggered appearance with the same wheel width front and rear. This is ideal for front wheel drive applications and on vehicles where rear wheel space is limited.

I stand corrected.

For clarification though, please no one try running 245/45/20's on an Altima .

Yeah, even 245/40/20 will rub. 245/35/20 is the sweet spot so the tire stays tucked back in the wheel well.

Thanks for all the feedback. The exact setup I ordered today was:XXR 006 20x8.5 - 5x114.3 /w blue lipFalken FK452 245/35-20and Dangeris, how much would you have gotten them for? I got them at NLMotoring as well for $1,607.23 (wheels / tires / tax / shipping) USPS 2-3 day airmail (which I doubt is airmail because NLMotoring's actual shop is located in California)

NLMotoring FTW! That was where I was going to point you to anyway so I'm sure the deal you got was the best one. Blue Lip eh? make sure you post up pics and for a heads up, if you can get your hands on a couple of lead balancing strips, do it and paint them with black epoxy paint! That way you won't have ugly dull silver balancing weights sticking out like a sore thumb against a black wheel! Post up pics too when you get them on too! I wanna see them
