The Xterra SE model comes with 17" wheels. Is there going to be much difference compared to the base 16" wheels? I'm thinking that the 16's will be a smoother ride and better in the snow? Or will the 17s be better?

I test drove a base model and it was a smooth ride. But they didn't have a SE to test.

Thanks for your help

Are you talking about a gen 1 Xterra (2000-2004) or gen 2's (2005+)?. The smaller rim size will enable a small amount of additional sidewall flex, but unless you're airing way down for traction, the difference in snow traction will be negligible. You may want to go to 16s for less expensive tires though.
