Xterra stuck in gear and wont start

Hi everyone, stopped by the gas station and when I tried to start my car, it wouldnt. On the dash it says shifter is in second gear but physically it is in park. I tried searching but couldnt find anything, please help.

What year is your Xterra? Have you had any other transmission issues? Hopefully you're not dealing with the dreaded strawberry milkshake.
