I have used the 4wheel drive in my xterra a few times. I do not use it at high speeds. However, when I am in 2 wheel drive on the freeway AFTER having driven in 4 wheel drive, my xterra will sorta lurch sporadically. Of course, it would not replicate for the service tech.

Does anyone have any suggestions? It did not leave a "code" in the computer. The car does not slow down or rev, just lurches (I don't know how else to explain it).

It seems to not do it if after I use 4 wheel drive, while in 2 wheel drive, I back up for like 20 feet. Seems like an old school solution - remember "lock in hubs..." well I thought we were in the 21st century.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well auto hubs can hang up and not unlock. They can be rebuilt or you can score a set of manuals off a truck in the wrecking yard if they have one. This is assuming you are driving a first gen Xterra.
