As of June, Nissan said that they had NO intention of discontinuing any models currently built at the Smyrna plant, and specifically mention the Xterra along with a few other models.
We'd have heard about the model ending by now, with it being nearly 2010, if it were to go away after the 2010 model year.

It is the Armada and QX that were rumored to be replaced by the Patrol, and that is still very much up in the air considering that it's directly tied to the future of the Titan, which itself is completely uncertain at the moment, even to Nissan.
ALL of Nissan's trucks share a common architecture at the moment, so there's no real reason any of them should disappear. The most efficient way to profit on a design is to sell as many varieties of it as possible to recoup investment. Selling 5 F-alpha trucks is right up that alley.
Until the next-generation future of the F-alpha lineup is sorted out (whether it be an outsourced platform, such as having it built by another automaker, or an internal Nissan solution), NONE of these trucks are likely to go anywhere.
If anything, the Leaf's benefits (tax and incentive) to the Smyrna plant have secured a brighter future for the Xterra.
