Have a 2000 4x2 xterra that will die after driving it and I have to get it towed home. Of course when I get it home it starts no problem. I changed the fuel filter. Havent tested it yet but I also pulled the pump and it doesnt look bad. Was thinking of replacing it but its kinda pricey. I can pull codes tommorow. What should I be looking for as far as whats keeping it crom running. Its hard to diagnose a running car w a intermitent problem.

thanks

Check the connections at the top of the sending unit. The terminals turn green and cause symptoms like the ones you described. At one time Nissan had a campaign to inspect/replace the sending units on all the trucks. I remember doing a few Xterras back when I still turned wrenches for a Nissan dealer. The worst was the crew cab short bed Frontiers, dropping those tanks were not fun, especially if the owner brought it to you with a full tank even after we asked them not to. The Xterras were easier. Maybe you truck never had the campaign performed on it, call a dealer. Get your VIN handy.
