xterra - abs light turn on, cd player shuts off, car dies/shuts off when i brake

it is intermittent.sometimes when i drive my xterra my abs would turn on, cd player turns off and the car would just shut off when i apply the brakes. any ideas fixing this problem?

Sounds like you have a loose connection somewhere that is causing the truck to lose power long enough to shut things down.

Check the harness to the computer and make sure your connections are secure. The computer is located behind all that plastic that makes middle portion of your dash, stereo and heater controls.

There could also be a loose connection in the main instrument cluster. Your Xterra won't run unless the gang plugs are properly in place. I know from experimenting with my own Xterra that if you unplug the instrument cluster while the engine is running the ABS light comes on and the engine quits. I reconnected and it started right up.
