Post

Hi again everyone! So, I picked up this wonderful 2006 M35 about a month ago from a friend whose mom has passed and he did not need/want the car. Has only 109K miles (a little old lady deal) for $5k and was really maintained (even got my new dash last week because of the recall :chuckle: ) . Has the tech package and has XM (the fin antenna on top of the car to confirm :) ). So my son tells me that XM is free this week (for the holiday week) and I have been debating to turn XM on again so I figured, let me give it a shot. I go to the M to switch to the SAT / XM mode and it does not show up. So after googling, I read on some thread that if you disconnect the negative cable on the battery for 10 minutes and reconnect, that "should" fix it? My questions are:

1. Will that actually get the XM to show up again?
2 Most Important:, by me disconnecting my negative battery connection for 10 minutes, am I doing any harm, will I have to reset anything, etc?

Performing #2 isn't worth the risk if it will cause havoc on my M. Thoughts? Ideas or suggestions?

Thanks again!

1) Never heard of that being the fix for this issue...I'd make sure you XM module/tuner in the trunk is connected (disconnect and reconnect, it's on the underside of the rear tray next to the amp if I recall).
2) No, you may lose your memory settings and radio stations and will have to reset that stuff but I disconnecting a car battery for any period of time will not due any harm. Personally I always disconnect the positive (red) terminal, not the ground. I guess it doesn't really matter?

Let us know how you make out.

Here was the post I actually found (on the NICO site): http://nicoclub.com/archives/satellite- ... initi.html

I'll give it a shot (after I look to see if the XM receiver is indeed hooked up).

Thanks!
