XM Radio / Weather / Traffic Renewal 4 EX35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

My 3 month trial on XM Radio / Traffic and Weather is about to expire.... I am not too much a fan for the XM radio (except CNBC) but I like to keep the XM Traffic and XM Weather.... Anyone have experience renewing just these 2 services? Any deals out there / tactics to negotiate?

I don't think they negotiate very much on price. I do believe you can purchase each individually, or all 3 as a package. You get a better deal if you buy a year or more at a time instead of month to month. If you have 2 XM vehicles, you get a discount on the second vehicle. Although, you can't get the vehicle discount if you have a XM vehicle and a Sirius vehicle, even though Sirius and XM merged. Still haven't figured that one out. Good luck and keep us posted if you do figure out a way of getting a better discount.

I received a $77 offer for my other car with XM so I just asked if they could do the same for my EX and they said "OK." There was a $12 royalty fee they added to the $77 though. Just so you know, there's a $400 lifetime subscription which may be the better deal if you keep your car a long time...just crunch your numbers.

Dale512...Did your $77 offer (+ loyalty fee) or the $400 lifetime include everything (XM / SIRI radio + weather + traffic)? Or this just covers the radio portion?

The $77 or $400 did not include royalty fees nor Weather and Nav Traffic. I was told Weather and Nav Traffic would be $7.00 per month or just one would be $3.99 per month. I've heard people post that they were able to get $77 per month for several years in a row. I elected to go with the lifetime since I intend to keep the car long enough to make it worthwhile. Also, if you forget to renew, you'll be renewed automatically at the regular rate. Lifetime saves me the trouble of remembering and continually calling them to negotiate a lower rate. Hope this helps.

Thx all.... I heard that when people renew, they suggest NOT to give them your credit card because if you do that, XM will automatically charge you once the period ends, not to mention you lose your bargain power if they already have your CC info. I'll try to see what kind of deal I can get..again I don't care much about the XM radio..but I like to keep the weather and traffic (especially traffic).

I'm assuming you meant $77 per year, not $77 per month. That is a much better deal than I was able to get through Sirius for my VW.

My neighbor, who also has an EX35, told me that he didn't renew his XM immediately and they kept contacting him to renew. After a few times, XM offered him $30 for 6 months. I'm not sure if that included the weather and traffic, but knowing him I think it does.

FYI, I have been receiving phone calls from XM asking for renewal. My subscription is going to expire next week. XM's been calling almost EVERYDAY asking for renewal. They left msges most of the times... while a few times they managed to talk to me in person offering me the 'standard' rate which I told them NO WAY. I asked them for a discount and they offered $20 off! I told them I'll rather listen to my iPod than XM. But they just kept on calling and calling eventhough I told them don't call me anymore unless they give me an annual rate of $30 for everything. Still kept calling..it's annoying! I guess they are very desperate for $$$$$. If they had just mention to me about the $77/yr deal (which again I don't care about the radio part..all I need is the weather and traffic), then I'll trade them w/ $50/year weather + traffic w/out radio..but they never mentioned about the $77 anyways... so I'll keep my mouth shut for now....

Infiniti needs to provide a firmware update to 08 units so we can get Xmweather. That would be worth it to me.

I'm not seeing a great value w/ XM weather. The concept is ok, but they need more details. Map area is quite large and one can't zoom in much. Weather forecasts are current and then a few days- no hourly. The real deal breaker is how few reporting areas there are. Mine is over 60 miles away. And when I travel to the northern part of the Lower peninsula of Michigan, Green Bay ends up being the weather location. XM can do much better than that.
