Car: 2006 Infiniti M35 journey package

Post

I own a 2006 M35 with the journey package. This did not include XM radio and I have begun thinking that I might want to install a receiver.

Does anyone have suggestions as to the type of receiver that best installs in this particular car? I would like something that isn't an eye sore. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.EP

Since my first post, I have seen an xm radio interface that must be installed but can be operated through my center display. Talk about not being an eye sore- does anyone have any information on this type of installation? I would like to know the best model to buy and the estimate expense to have the dealership or an electronic store install. Thanks.

im not exactly sure what your asking; are you trying to rip out the factory screen and receiver and install and aftermarket one or something?

I replaced the XM tuner in my 2006 M45 with Sirius. I still have the XM box which will be an easy install for you. The wiring is already in place in your car. Although you might have to add an antenna.

$75 for the XM tuner.

Your car is pre-wired to connect to the factory XM Receiver module which mounts in the trunk lid. You may need to add a shark fin antenna if you don't already have one. The factory module is fully operational through the main console controls.

so the car is fully wired for an XM module in the trunk? All I have to do it buy a module and an antenna and it will work through my existing display in my dash? That's bad a**.

Contact Joe Tsensky at http://www.everythinginfiniti.com for information. This site is part of Scottsdale Infiniti in Arizona and gives us excellent prices on OEM stuff.

He can also confirm what needs to be done for your specific model.

It doesn't mount in the trunk lid. It goes under the rear parcel shelf behind the right rear seat. Remove the trunk top finisher and you will see the connector.

Here's a link that shows how to install the tuner and antenna. Although it is not the factory shark fin antenna.

Hey mcdoken, I know this is off topic but were you ever able to find out information on installing the back-up camera into an M that didn't come with one from the factory?

My car already had the back-up camera so I didn't do any research on it. But I saw a post on another site from somebody that installed Navigation and also wanted the camera. He found that you have to change the trunk lid to the one that has the recepticle for the camera. And then also install the wiring to it.

So it's doable. But a more elaborate install than Navi.
