I just had an Audiovox CommanderMT XM unit installed. The sound is just ok; not as clean as regular FM stations. It sounds muffled, like covering up the speakers. The bass is not full and rich, and the trebles are not crisp at all. I took it back to Circuit City and the guy said this was as good as it was going to get. I have to turn the volume up quite a bit compared to all other inputs, but have been told that that is normal.

Has anyone else had this experience? It seems to me that it should sound at least as good as FM.

Thanks!

Anything that has a FM transmitter is going to suck in terms of quality. I don't know if there's one for the Commander, but an FM adapter would be better as it would plug into the radio antenna input.

G35s also come with XM. Both sound equally as good when using stock. However, when you move to a different way of listening, such as through FM, it reduces quality significantly.

My G came with XM. The sound over XM is considerably clearer than the FM stations. I'm not one who easily hears differences either. I'm sure that Sirrus is equally clear.

My guess, you have an issue with your antenna. XM should be far cleaner than standard FM.
