I lose my XM signal when traveling through areas with heavy woods on sides of highway. Is there a way to increase the db gain or reploace the antenna with a higher gain?

I would like to Welcome you to our little group here. This really is a great group of members here.

One of the downsides of trying to pick up a digital signal from a satellite is that they tend to be susceptible to EMF interference and dense structural signal loss. I spent a while last night searching for a digital signal booster or replacement antenna that would work with this car, but I am coming up with nothing. There are products on the market that are deignated for commercial satellite use and signal boosters but there is nothing that works inline with the OE feeder lines.

I have an add-on XM unit in my wives car and it has the same issue around the DC area with the burried high current lines and the Pentagon reservation and for some reason there is one overpass on I-95 that cuts everyones satellite signal as you pass over the railroad tracks.

If I can find an 08 M I will take a look at the connections and see if any of the cabinet full of XM antenna I have will work on that. Sorry I cannot give you a better answer at this time. Maybe some of the other members can chime in with their experiences with this.
