...and it'll cost 220.00 per year to continue receiving it.Are there any other options? Someone I talked to said I could go with another satellite radio supplier like Cirrus.

You have to pay no matter what you get. Also if you switch to Sirius you have to get that installed. BTW sirius and Xm is one company now.

Here is what you can do. Call them up and tell them you are ready to cancell it since you only listen to it few times. Not worth the 220 a year. They will offer you lower payments. I do that all th time. Sometimes they give me 3 freee months and 6 bucks a month after that or just give me 6/months straight from call. If one would not give you what you want just tell him/her you have to hang up you are busy. Call next day and you end up talking to somebody else and he/she might be better. So far all of them give me a good cut.

Hope this helps be a smart shopper and make deals instead of go with the fixed rates. Think this way. They still make money on you no matter of what.

I keep mine, and I really don't know why. I never listen to it. I have about 100 CDs in my music box and I usually am always listening to it. I need to call and try to get mine cheaper too. Hubby has Sirius in his truck. We travel in it so it is worth it to have it in that vehicle. Now that they are both the same company, maybe we could really work out a deal.

Good advice

Keep calling and bargaining with them.

Just had a 2 week car rental while on vacation go from $491 for the two weeks down to $217.00 with unlimited mileage. We kept calling and bargaining with three different rental agencies for over three weeks until we got a deal that we liked.Everything is negotiable in today's economy.

My 90-day trial ran out in Jun '09 and I called 1-800-682-4114 and asked for the "$77/yr offer". They may try to add a music royalty fee of $10 or so, but see if you can get it waived. You must specifically ask for the $77/yr offer. This offer is good for XM only and does not include Sirius or live traffic.

I only use the music box now. Once you have loaded 30+ CDs onto the hard drive there is no need for the radio, satellite or traditional. I can always listen to exactly what I want when I want. Satellite radio is hemhorrhaging money and will eventually collapse. I think that hard drives and iPod connectivity are the way of the future.

I only use satellite radio in rental cars when I'm travelling so that I don't need to find local rock stations.

I like to listen to the comedy channels sometimes when I need a laugh. It really pisses me off when they play commercials though. Why do they need commercials on radio that subscribers pay for??? Charge a dollar more and nix the commercials.

The comedy was the only thing I listened to also... I shut mine off and bought an extra iPod and that's all I listen too.

I live in the sticks and have a 5 min commute to work so I never used it. When I did travel back to my home town to see the rents I would keep losing the signal cause the tree cover is so thick on the one road that leads back home...

Nothing worse than hearing the joke and then the punch line gets cut out...

I just make new playlists or put it on shuffle sometimes.

This is my free trial that I'm talking about. I haven't subscribed yet, and am ready to cancel...I imagine that when you call, they ask for your XM 'number', and they might keep a log of conversations with you... asking for the "$77/yr offer" might be denied and noted in the conversation log.I guess what worries me a little is one day the Sat radio no longer works and nobody calls me to make me a better offer than what I received a month and a half ago.I might pay 77.00 a year- haven't decided, I almost hate to lose it for good.

I got the 77/yr deal, but that offer nor any that XM sends you in the mail include the 'Royalty Fee'.

The 'Royalty Fee' adds 11.78 to the price for a total of; 88.78.

i let my XM service run out and did not renew, even when they offered it at $75 a year, which is a great deal.

in the beginning XM was great, then after a year or two, station by station they started removing the ones I loved and listened to, and it got the point where I just said, screw it, why pay for something they keep taking away.

that's when I started connecting my ipod to my car system and have all the tunes i want.

1st post on this forum, but I was searching for info on XM subscription renewal cost, and that's how I found the forum.

Yesterday I found an interesting use for XM radio. My college footbal team (Sun Devils) was playing but it was not televised and the internet feed was blocked. A guy on our message board mentioned XM and I hadn't even thought of it since we just bought a 2009 Maxima and I hadn't used XM much. So I went out to the car, pulled it back into the driveway (XM won't receive in the garage), found my station and listened to the game in the car!

Some interesting things here, first the score showed up on the display screen, that was cool. Second, was drinking beer in the car, was hoping the man didn't drive by! Third, found out my computer wireless works in the driveway - had my laptop in the car with me surfin while drinking beer and listening to the game!

Overall cool experience and without XM I wouldn't have been able to listen. So although initially I thought for sure I wouldn't be renewing XM after the trial, now I'm re-considering. And the 77 deal mentioned above sounds pretty reasonable.
