XM Radio Display cuts off names of songs and artists

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? When I tune to an XM station, if the song or artist of more than 15 or 16 characters, it cuts off the display. It's completely annoying, It doesn't do this for FM stations that are equipped with the displaying of songs. Not sure if this is an XM problem or an Infiniti Problem. Any one have this issue? and a solution? thanks.

I have indeed noticed the same thing. I'm pretty sure that is an XM limitation and doesn't have anything to do with the EX.

I've noticed this, too, and it can be pretty frustrating, especially considering the sophistication of the EX's Nav/Radio Display.

It seems to be a limitation with the EX, because members of my family have new GM cars with XM Sat Radio which scroll--acutallly crawl--the entire information across the radio display when prompted.

I did a little more research on this. It is XM tuner dependent according to the information that I have found. Here are the two that I found listed and the characters that they support.

XMD1000 = 32 for artist, 32 for titleXMPCR = 16 for artist, 16 for title

Does anyone know what the EX has for the XM tuner? I couldn't find this listed, but admittedly I haven't checked the manuals.

My guess is that the vehicles that Happy2Drive mentions have the newer tuner (or some other flavor that is also newer) and that the EX must have an older one.

Did you find any info? it seems that xmpcr was discontinued in 2004. It seems wacky to me that a brand new car would have this limitation. is it the radio? or an EX module that limits this display? it wasn't clear. My previous car, was an M35 with Sirius and I never had this problem.
