Anyone else getting called by XM Radio (1-877-438-9677) just as the 90 day free trial ends? I keep getting calls on my cell phone (6 a day) from them but where I work is in a cell shadow so I just get the missed calls messages after I leave work. They are calling later in the day now so I could answer but they are pissing me off so I refuse to.

I emailed them to request they remove my number from the database and that I am not interested in subscribing, but the email they sent me asks me to call them to get them to stop calling me! (i.e they want to give me one last sales pitch to try and persuade me to give them my credit card number - I am so glad they don't have it).

I am not going to waste my cell minutes trying to move up a phone ladder til I find someone who will actually remove my number. I googled the number and all the pages I find are full of people saying that when you answer and ask them to stop calling, they just hang up (I guess the operators don't want a canceled service call on their shift - makes them look bad), or sometimes they do remove it but the call list just gets updated again a few months later and your number is re-added.

Do Not Call lists don't apply because when you buy the car there is apparently a $200 purchase price (for the radio) built into the cost of the car so they have the legal right to call you since you have now established a commercial relationship with them.

Anyone have any luck in getting them to stop calling? Wondering if I need to start emailing their legal department or maybe even the entire Board of Directors

(This is XM Radio Canada btw not the US branch so the numbers may be different)..

you can get a subscription for 1 yr for like 70 bucks... is it worth it to not get the calls?

Call them up and tell them you got a promotional offer in the mail for 1 year @ 70 bucks, but act confused and say that you lost the sheet with the acutal conformation number.

Is that the best deal? I have 6 months for 20$... Just keep renewing that. I'm not sold on the xm though, I hardly listen to it.

I've received a few of these calls. I never pick them up though.

XM is not all that great IMO. I renewed after the 3 month trial for a cheap price but I won't be doing again.

Not to impressed, but a good relief to the played out radio stations here as well as a repeaating ipod. XM and Sirius have assured a merger of all their stations, if the pending merger is finalized. Hopefully the music gets better and more diverse.

ive been trying to figure out logistically whats going to happen.... they cant broadcast off both satts... thats a huge expense... so then which one will they use? charge people to "change over"? who would be the ones changing over... etc..

Ya, it will be interesting. I would assume they would side with the company that has more subscribers if it will only work on one set of hardware. Last I knew XM had almost double, not sure if this is still the case. Of course they might be able to broadcast a signal that either can receive or would need a firmware update to receive.

I say I get fair use of the XM, its a nice changeup to the radio and most of it is commercial free. All of the news stations are pretty nice as well, I use that for the longer trips.

But I know what you mean, when my subscription was about to run up I had the most pushy sales guy call me and almost take it down that he was going to do a bill me later. I got so pissed.

Yep, XM just does not work for me... I had the other brand lol and enjoyed it much more and easier to use....

Just tell them to turn it off unless you have to have no commercials...even then they have people talking on some stations prior to the music starting.

Ahh blissful silence.. Not a single call today - maybe they actually took my warning seriously

I would still consider subscribing if I knew which of the 2 companies will be on top after the merger, but after reading all the billing horror stories from Consumer reports and the BBB about XM Radio I was very leery about signing up..

I used to have Sirius in my other carThey haunted me for over a year until i accually had to physically threaten them to stop calling me (drastic measures i know) i was getting between 10-15 calls per day. After i threatened them it slowed to 5-10 calls a day. I eventually went to the police and had to file a report for harrasment. After that it finally stopped. XM sent me a letter to renew. i called them and told them id do 1yr 50$. They agreed lol i havent heard from them since.

I just reordered XM for the 77 dollars for a year(like 6.50 per month). My dad has sirius, and I can offically say that XM doesnt have CRAP on Sirius. Sirius is so much better in every way. The channels are pretty much the same, but Sirius has so much more variety. Not to mention Howard Stern who is a riot. Hopefully since the XM shares are being converted to Sirius shares, Sirius will be in the driver seat after the merger.
