XM Navtraffic....Please Help me

Hey everyone. So I have a 2011 G37X with XM Navtraffic I don't know if I just have no idea how to use it or if it just isn't working properly. I never get any kind of announcement if I am coming up on some traffic or any kind of reroute when I hit to reroute around the traffic. If anyone has the same problems and it isn't just me not knowing how to use it does anyone know how to fix this. Or if its just me being dumb and not knowing how to use it does anyone know where I can go to learn how to use it because everywhere I look I cannot find anything to teach me how to use it. Any help is going to be greatly appreicated.

Perhaps this is a stupid question but have you ever called XM to validate your subscription?
Most or all new vehicles come with a free 3 month activation but that may not include the traffic announcement.
When i purchased my Garmin I had to call Garmin for them to send a download signal to my device.
