XM Module

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I get spotty reception on XM. No trees or tall buildings. Usually in same places; often on highway and on certain entrance ramps. From what I have been able to research, it could just be module is old (2011 ex35). From what I can guess, module in part of antenna.

So, am I correct in my assumptions, or is there a separate independent module somewhere. Do I have to drop headliner to get to it ( I have had hard times in past dropping headliners)?

I am thinking of taking out radio head also just to check connection.

Any input is appreciated.

I have the same spotty reception and it started about a year or 2 ago... sounds just like yours. I would lose reception on the freeway in the exact same spots every day... It wasn't always like this. I was blaming XM themselves (in my head) and even brought it up to them, but they never got back to me and my wife started driving my EX !
I was planning on adding it to my QX30 and if so, I will update this thread with the results... If I still have spotty signals, I blame XM. If the poor reception spots experienced in my EX are not there with the QX30, we can blame the EX35's aging equipment.

I didn't have prob on last car. Sirius can't do anything. They apparently send out one signal to the entire country; it is not device specific. Plus, of course, customer service is a foreign language to them (not as bad as Comcast...they're just evil lol) I blamed them last yr, but IO am pretty sure it is vehicle specific f me.

I need help finding the module though

You just need to go through the factory manuals on this forum and you will find it. Those things have saved me several times

Pop that part number into eBay. There are several of them under $100 used ... unless they all have the same issue. But if they do, no sense in buying new

MAYBE try unscrewing your antenna off and back on again tight.

OK - I got my SXM over the weekend for my QX30s...(by the way, I hope NONE of you ever pay over $5 /mo....)
It didn't cut out on the way to work in the same areas my EX loses reception for a second or two...

:) for my QX
:( for my EX... Luckily, it really doesn't happen all too much.
