I've siwtched out the stock bulb with the HID one, connected the bulbs wires to the ballasts wires. The second wire coming out of the ballast doesn't fit into the OEM harness. So I put on the other wire which connects to the second wire on the ballast. Okay...but from that extra wire are these two silver flat things stickout out..I don't know how those are supposed to plug into the OEM harness..?

There's also thiss little black box thing -I think it's called a shroud- which those two silver parts can fit into, but I stick them in there and that still doesn't fit into the OEM thing...

So what do I do?

Okay so here's all the stuff minus the bulb and it's two wires. So those two silver things in the center of the pic are my issue. I don't know how to connect those to the OEM thing.

Um... you need to double check. Put it upside down or vice versa. The part that comes off of the ballast fits. I'm 100% sure. I have this same kit.

I also just installed this same kit in my friend's '05 Explorer. I'm assuming all OEM harnesses are univeral because it looked just like this one. I believe just the bulb is different.

I have never used that set of wires with the silver prongs. Not on my car nor on my friend's Explorer.

I had this same problem with my kit. What I did was cut that wire that has the prongs on it and tapped it into the factory harness. hope this helps.

Yeah that's what I was thinking of doing..as a last resort. I was just checkig to see if anyone else had this issue because it seems like some kits work perfectly but then there others that are messed up.

So did you end up hooking up the wires black to black and blue to red? I don't want to blow a fuse or whatever by mixing them up. I'm going to try again tomorrow with the OEM harness and the balasts harness. And if that doesn't work then I guess i'm cutting wires

it wouldnt hurt to go and look at a few auto places before you start cutting wires.

those silver terminals look to big to fit into that plug. are you sure you got the right stuff? even though it says H11 on the box, the stuff on the inside may not be. My suggestion would be to call CS of the place and tell them you got the wrong stuff. they might send you a replacement for free.

Alrighty, I sent the seller on Ebay an e-mail. The tags on the wires say H11 as well. I don't know..maybe something just got mixed up. Hopefully this will get taken care of soon. Thanks for the feedback.

If you're going to the San Diego meet next Saturday and you get to Stillen early enough, I'll help you. From the picture, it looks exactly like my kit and it should fit.

No i'm not going to the SD meet. When you installed your kit did you end up using that cord on the left (of the picture)?

Now that I think about it... I believe it's because I used a relay. You're connecting this directly to the OEM harness. Grab a relay off of ebay for 20 bucks shipped and you should be fine.

Oh duh.

Okay..so a relay. Wait but did you have issuses hooking up your relay?

What's the point of a relay anyway?

No issues. Install is a breeze.

It's supposed to get rid of the issue that some HIDs have that they won't all fire up at the same time when on auto. My relays failed on that aspect. However, they are also to protect your OEM harness from any blown fuses.

My first set of HIDs, I had them connected directly to the OEM harness, one ballast blew out because some water got in and it short-circuited my headlight. It wouldn't even work with the stock ugly bulb. Now with the relay... since it has it's own fuse, the relay should take all the punishment.

Alrighty, I ordered a relay harness. Hopefully it'll be here soon and everything will plug in and work correctly.

Installed the relay harness and my HID's are working fantastic. BUT I'm having one problem. When my headlights turn on -automatically or manually- my interior lights (dashcluster, radio, AC unit) get dull, and when I turn my headlights off they're back to their normal brightness.

I'm thinking that when i installed my HID's I may have loosened up wire?

I'm assuming you disconnected your battery when you installed the HID's, so when you did this the brightness on your dash gets reset, just turn the dash brightness knob to max when you have the headlights on to get them back to full at all times.

Personally i like to have the dash dim when i have the headlights on, lets me know when my headlights are on or not (i leave mine in the auto setting so i'm not always sure)

^There's your answer.

The knob is by the speedo, you can't miss it. I agree with him though. When my headlights are off, I have my dash cluster at full brightness. When my headlights are on, I have the dash one or two clicks below full brightness for the same reason he stated.

Ohhhh duh. Hmm I may leave it a bit duller cause mine don't switch on automatically when they're on auto anymore so that is a good indicator. Good idea, thanks for the help!
